The U.S. Park Police Aviation Unit is a critical part of the public safety system in the Washington D.C. Area. All three of the unit’s helicopters exceed the Department of the Interior regulation that mandates replacing emergency service helicopters after 5000 flight hours. Unless action is taken to quickly replace these aircraft, the vital services provided by this unit to the Nation’s Capital will be lost. This unit’s tradition of safety and service must be preserved.
